| This is the dramatic story of a revitalised Scotland team's European Championship qualifying campaign. Walter Smith took over the reigns in 2004, stabilised and galvanised the squad and prepared the groundwork for his successor, Alex McLeish, who carried the flag to the campaign's electrifying finish.
The Tartan Army had something to sing about once again as Scotland romped through their qualifying group beating Lithuania, Ukraine, the Faroe Islands, Georgia and the invincible French - twice! The campaign culminated in a nailbiting match against Italy at Hampden on 17 November 2007.
The whole nation was behind the team with the fans' optimism at an all time high. The country ground to a standstill during the game, and Flower of Scotland rang out across the terraces. Unfortunately, the result didn't go our way, but preparations are already underway for the World CUp 2010... as a nation reborn!
