Murdered on Duty
On September 23, 1970, Katherine Ann Powers, shot a Boston policeman, in the back as he responded to a bank robbery. Katherine Powers, a radical student, then went on the run and become one of America's ten most wanted.
Gunter Podola was the last person executed in the UK for the murder of a policeman. He was known to be a fanatical member of the Hitler Youth and was convicted of the murder of Detective Sergeant Purdy. At his trial Podola pleased amnesia in his defence.
